The Magical Hands

The onset of plastic and synthetic materials in daily life has brought the sad demise of the once famous pottery of Bangladesh. The earthen pottery, made with hands in the potter's wheel once has reached to its zenith, as an art form. Still it is an answer to the pollution caused by the plastic packaging materials. The finest artistry involved in creating the potteries and earthen wares is a site to behold how life is imparted to the clay collected from pond and water bodies or the silt of the rivers of Bangladesh. Formerly, potters used to be a distinctive community in every village. But now very few people are still following the age old profession.
The art involved very little or no equipment apart from the potter's wheel. The bare hands of the artists were enough to infuse life in the clay.
